According to the World Health Organization:
WORKING AT HEIGHT SAFETY TRAINING
- Falls are the second leading cause of accidental or unintentional injury / deaths worldwide.
- Each year an estimated 646 000 individuals die from falls globally.
- 3 million Falls that are severe enough to require medical attention occur each year.
The Working at Height Safety Training program is designed to increase awareness of learners regarding hazards associated with work carried out at height and provide them the necessary information they need to keep themselves and others safe
LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of the session learners will be able to:
- Identify hazards associated with working at height
- Explain the risk prevention Hierarchy used to eliminate / reduce the risks associated with work at height
- List safety precautions taken when using equipment to carry out work at height e.g., ladders, independent tied scaffolding, MEWP’s
- Explain the process of fall protection planning
- Identify key components of a Personal Fall Arrest System
- Demonstrate how to inspect a Personal Fall Arrest System
- Demonstrate how to don a full body harness
LEARNING EVALUATION
To obtain a certificate of completion for this program, participants must be present for the full program and meet both of the following requirements:
- Complete the written multiple-choice test
- Complete a hands-on demonstration of seven specific critical tasks
